Victim: George Watterson Williams

George Watterson Williams First Lt. George Williams, better known as Geordie, was heading home on holiday leave from his base with the Eighth Field Artillery at Bad Krueznach, West Germany. He graduated in 1982 from Joppatowne High School with honors and won a full ROTC scholarship to Tulane University. He later transferred from Tulane to Maryland College. He graduated in 1986 with a B.A in Business Administration and Accounting. Among the many honors in his military career, was his selection for a highly competitive program to train Aerial Forward Observers. At Fort Sill, Oklahoma he won his wings as Aerial Forward Observer, the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.

Geordie was the only child of Judy and George Williams. His father described him as, "extremely outgoing. He was just a great kid and a real guy." His parents had recently visited him in Germany that summer. Along with two relatives from Ireland all five toured Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. The family had plans to meet in Scotland in the summer of 1989.
